A Marker of Time (my opinion) is something that happens that you never forget.
You’re wedding or World War II are things that most people will never forget (you’re wedding because you should celebrate it every year).
My first marker was when I got a motorcycle (1980 YZ 50). It was the coolest, almost the best day of my life.
Then, of course when I got my drivers license (25 days after my b-day).
Graduation (nobody thought that would happen, even me).
21st birthday (I don’t think I need to tell anyone about that).
My wedding (another that nobody thought would happen).
30th birthday (not a good marker, but a marker).
The birth of the boy (The best day of my life so far).
All markers define who we are as people. Some peoples markers are good, some are bad (hopefully the good outnumber the bad).
The markers that we as the human race have made are the ones that shape society, good or bad.
When 9/11 happened I was rebuilding a country club and happened to be by a TV when it happened. That sight will never leave my mind. The soldiers of any war must have sights and sounds in their mind that will never leave (my hat is off to all of you).
Most markers of time, we make happen (one way or another).
These markers are how we learn to make our future better.
