The World and Us

by wude72 on February 20, 2009

heathers-044We both have a fight on our hands, the world and us.

The worlds fight is to fix what we have done.  Global warming, something that will change how we live and how the earth functions.  Studies are now showing that the earth is starting to change.  The temperature is rising, slowly for now, but that may change soon.  We are the one’s that can change this.  The question is will we.

We also have an economic battle that we must deal with.  These to separate battles are linked in that we have over used what we have.  It is now coming back to us, in a big way.  People are losing everything they have worked for.  Giant corporations are failing.  It has been said that this is the worst economic turn-down since the great depression.  Looking around I think they may be right.

I don’t know how to fix either problem, but I do believe that they can be fixed.  We just need to change how we live, be happy with what we have.

    I agree.

Some where along the ling we became a country of more=better. So many people go bust just trying to keep up with The Jones.

My husband and I are a 1 income family. We have a mortgage and two kids (a 5 year old and a 17 year old). Living with less and “giving up” things is a hard lesson for everyone. But we believe teaching them that has made this economic crisis easier on them.

I don’t know the solution either.
My husband and I are trying to do what works for us and keeps a roof over our heads and food in our kids bellies.

    Great post.

I think both of those problems could be improved (if not solved) if people were to merely decide to simplify their lives.

Eat healthy. Use only what you need. Give up fashion and trendiness in favor of usability and efficiency.

Either you have a big adjustment like a 20 percent or 30 percent decline, or you have a big recession or you have a slow decline in property prices or several years of no growth.par
