What to do on World No Driving Day

by wude72 on April 5, 2009

You are probably wondering what to do with out your car, right?  Fear no more, here is a list of non-driving things to do.

  • Get a bunch of friends together and go for a bike ride to your favorite eatery (order whatever you want, you will burn the calories on the way home)
  • Go hiking around your town  (You never know what you might find)
  • Stay in bed with your better half (this could be fun)
  • Make an adventure park in your back yard (if you live in an apartment, use the parking lot)
  • Plant trees in your neighborhood (this would help more than not driving)
  • Clean up around your neighborhood (probably could do this while planting trees)
  • Work at home
  • Ride your bike to work
  • Tune up your car (this will help decrease emissions when you do drive)
  • Go camping for the weekend (make sure you car pool)
  • Change all your light bulbs to more energy efficient models
  • Run
  • Have a board game tournament
  • Clean your house and yard (yea, doesn’t sound fun, but you should probably clean up sometime)
  • Help the old lady in your neighborhood (just cause it’s a nice thing to do)
  • Write emails to your family members that you rarely see (they would love to hear from you)
  • Read a book (any book will do)
  • Learn how to make bio-fuel (remember, safety first)
  • Buy a hybrid vehicle (or at least look into it)
  • Paint a picture (could be fun)
  • Learn to knit
  • Watch old home movies
  • Make a sidewalk chalk mural
  • Go rollerblading  or go old school and roller skate
  • Play Frisbee

These are a few ideas that I thought up.  I would love to hear your ideas

    More ideas:
    1. Four Square Tourney. At work we spend hours playing adult four square- you can use tape on the floor (dimensions are 11 X 11). This is incredibly fun.
    2. Flag football- by the time you and your friends get done you will be too tired to go anywhere.
    3. Make a list of all the tasks you have been avoiding and make it a point to do them from home.
    4. Have a family fun day- involve your kids with cooking dinner (home made pizza & tacos are always winners). After dinner let your kids decide what activity to do with you. Keep an open mind.
    5. Spend the day at the pool.
